Astoria Life: New York Minutes

Musings from the Queen of Queens, or My 6 years of living in Queens and greater NYC, where I moved to work for the water department and ended up, among other things, traveling the world and appearing on a billboard on Times Square.

100 years without a toll!

The Queensboro bridge turns 100 years old today! It has been toll-free the entire time! Yay!

A good clean neighbor!

At 1st Avenue and York, there is a dry cleaner called "First Professional" who have the following sign in the window:

"If you are unemployed and need a suit cleaned for an interview, we will do it for free."

I love people who do this! I hope his karma is repaid a million times over. It takes a lot of guts to be nice in today's world.

Tres Suenos!

I found a new Cadbury bar (for me) in South America.

It's called Tres Suenos (Three Dreams), and has a layer of dark, white and then milk chocolate! It sells for US 60 cents.
