Astoria Life: New York Minutes

Musings from the Queen of Queens, or My 6 years of living in Queens and greater NYC, where I moved to work for the water department and ended up, among other things, traveling the world and appearing on a billboard on Times Square.

Annie Leibowitz in Brooklyn

Other than going to Coney Island once or twice a year, I rarely go to Brooklyn. Not that I have anything against the borough -- i just have no need to go.

Today, however, I sojourned to the very nice Brooklyn Museum to see the Annie Leibowitz exhibit www.brooklynmuseum.org I am a big Annie Leibowitz fan from the early 1990s, when I went to see her exhibit at London's National Portrait Gallery 8 times (you got in for free if you showed your American Express card) and later on, in 2000, when I saw her "Women" exhibit at the Corcoran in Washington DC 3 times (had to pay for each of those!)

So this exhibit was called "Annie Leibowitz: A Photographer's Life 1990 - 2005) and incorporated a lot of the photos I had seen before. But some were brand new, including a stunning one of Nicole Kidman from 2003 and Scarlet Johannsen from 2004. It was crowded but amazing.

Here are the tentaive tour dates for this exhibit throughout the next year or so:
