Astoria Life: New York Minutes

Musings from the Queen of Queens, or My 6 years of living in Queens and greater NYC, where I moved to work for the water department and ended up, among other things, traveling the world and appearing on a billboard on Times Square.

May and June's donations

I am combining May and June's donations into a $250 donation, the cost to inscribe a stone by the Temperance Fountain in Tompkins Square Park in the East Village. I am going to paraphrase a quote I read in John Nichols' book "The Empanada Brotherhood", about a bunch of guys who ate at the same empanada stand in 1960s Greenwich Village.

"To love, money, health and time to spend it all!"

El Diablo!

I was on the 6 train to 50th Street at 10am when I saw this guy who had close cropped most of his hair, but left two tufts longer towards the front of his head. He had dyed them red and twisted them up to resemble devil's horns.

He then grew out the appropriate goatee and had on shades.

Seriously, why not? I think that takes guts. Rock on!
